DESCRIPTION:Join PFH Conservation Fund on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 12:30 pm for a second opportunity to explore one of the region’s most scenic waterways with renowned naturalist Michael Gaige.\nGoose Creek winds 54 miles through the heart of the northern Blue Ridge and Piedmont, from Manassas Gap to Leesburg. On this guided five-mile hike near Upperville and Rectortown, participants will follow a beautiful stretch of the stream as it flows through rolling farmland and historic countryside. Along the way, Michael will share insights into the area’s rich history, from early landowners and old mill sites to the evolving landscape and vegetation over the past 250 years.\nMichael will also discuss current land management practices and the conservation efforts that are shaping the future of this iconic watershed.\nHike Details\nDistance: Approximately 5 miles (with an optional early exit at ~2 miles).\nTerrain: Mostly gentle but expect some wet areas and tall grass.\nFootwear: Hiking boots or other appropriate waterproof boots are strongly recommended.\nBring: Water and dress appropriately for the weather.\nRefreshments will be served following the hike’s conclusion.\nThis is a special opportunity to experience the natural and cultural history of Goose Creek through the eyes of an expert.
