Preserving Rural Loudoun: Landowner Opportunities & Incentives

On December 5, 2024, PFHCF hosted “Preserving Rural Loudoun: Landowner Opportunities & Incentives” at the Old Stone School in Hillsboro. Attendees gained valuable insights into how landowners can make the most of their rural living experience. The program focused on strategies to utilize land effectively while preserving its natural beauty and supporting a thriving rural community.

Experts from Piedmont Environmental Council, Land Trust of Virginia and the Loudoun County Preservation & Conservation Coalition spoke on several topics, including ways to support and benefit from local agricultural and economic initiatives, practical strategies for sustainable land management, and ways to protect their land for future generations. In addition to expert presentations, residents shared personal stories about how they have embraced life in the country, participated in the rural economy, and taken advantage of financial incentives.

PFHCF Chair, Dulany Morison, recounted, “It was exciting to hear firsthand experience from local landowners who have adopted a rural lifestyle and capitalized on the available agricultural funding. Whether you own five acres or 500 acres, everyone can benefit from engaging with the rural economy.”

The event concluded with a beer and wine reception, allowing attendees to network with representatives from the presenting organizations and connect with fellow members of the community.
