The Piedmont Fox Hounds Conservation Fund is pleased to congratulate Sophie Leftwich and Beatrice VanSant, the inaugural recipients of the newly established Piedmont Countryside Scholarship.

Created to support young people pursuing education while encouraging a continued connection to Virginia’s rural landscape, the Piedmont Countryside Scholarship reflects PFHCF’s commitment to investing in the next generation. The scholarship is part of the Conservation Fund’s broader mission to preserve the Piedmont’s open spaces, wildlife habitats and rural traditions through education, community engagement and support for those who care for the land.

Sophie Leftwich, Ashburn, VA (Texas A&M University) and Beatrice VanSant, Middleburg, VA (University of Georgia) were selected as the first scholarship recipients in recognition of their accomplishments, interests and commitment to the countryside. Their selection marks an exciting beginning for a program designed to help young people pursue their educational goals while remaining connected to the landscape and communities that make the Piedmont such a special place.

PFHCF is proud to make this investment in Sophie and Beatrice and looks forward to following their accomplishments in the years ahead. The organization also extends its sincere thanks to the donors and supporters whose generosity made the new scholarship possible. Their support allows PFHCF to expand its educational programming and create opportunities for young people who will help shape the future of the Piedmont.

Congratulations to Sophie and Beatrice on this well-deserved recognition. PFHCF wishes both recipients every success as they continue their education and begin the next chapter of their journeys.
