Jumping Clinic with Juliet Graham at Gum Tree Farm

The Piedmont Fox Hounds Conservation Fund hosted its Fourth Annual Jumping Safely in the Hunt Field Clinic with Juliet Graham on July 31, 2026, at Gum Tree Farm in Middleburg, generously hosted by Walter and Franny Kansteiner, MFH. The clinic brought riders together for an opportunity to sharpen their skills, build confidence and focus on the techniques needed to navigate obstacles safely in the hunt field.

Led by Olympian and former Piedmont Fox Hounds Honorary Whipper-In Juliet Graham, the clinic emphasized thoughtful preparation, sound jumping technique and the importance of riding with confidence and control across varied terrain. Riders had the opportunity to work on their approach to fences, improve their balance and rhythm, and develop the skills needed to make safe decisions while riding in the field. The clinic also reinforced the value of good horsemanship, preparation and consideration for both horse and rider.

Education and the preservation of Virginia’s sporting traditions are important components of the Piedmont Fox Hounds Conservation Fund’s mission. Programs such as Jumping Safely in the Hunt Field provide valuable opportunities for riders to improve their abilities while supporting the knowledge and skills that help sustain mounted field sports for future generations.

PFHCF extends its sincere thanks to Juliet Graham for sharing her expertise and to the Kansteiner family for generously opening Gum Tree Farm for this year’s clinic. Their support helps make educational opportunities like this possible and strengthens the connection between horsemanship, safety and the sporting traditions of the Virginia Piedmont.
